[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every second immediately afterwards is vital. In fact, with each minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, there is a 10% drop in their chances of survival.

That makes having an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on hand absolutely vital when you run a public enterprise. Whether it’s a sports club, a nightclub, a shopping centre or a cinema, the question isn’t so much ‘do you need an AED?’, as ‘which defibrillator should you choose?’

At WEL Medical we offer three main Automated External Defibrillators ideally suited to different audiences. Here, we present our defibrillator guide for first time buyers which defines the differences in an easy to follow fashion – so you can pick the one that’s right for you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1633596964291{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”25″ padding_top=”30px”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The All-Around Choice: The iPAD SP1

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”30″][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Est. cost: Around £1,000

Battery life: Up to five years and 200 shocks

We start our defibrillator guide for first time buyers with our best all-round option and most popular AED. The iPAD SP1 is the fastest-charging* defibrillator on the market. Water and dust-resistant to an IP55-rating, it comes with a range of user-friendly features, and a seven-year guarantee which can be upgraded to 10 years when you register your unit with us.

*Between shocks[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2430″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”30px”][vc_column][vc_tta_tabs shape=”square” color=”black” spacing=”5″ active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Unique Features” tab_id=”1633616408533-3162e7c9-ab2e”][vc_column_text]As mentioned above, when trying to resuscitate, every second counts. CPR chest compression helps to keep the heart full of blood and in a shockable (non-flatlined) state, but when you move your hands away there can be a notable delay while automated external defibrillators check to see if the patient is suited for shock treatment. Where many AEDs have a wait time of 8-10 seconds and above, the iPAD SP1 goes from first checks to first shock in five seconds – giving you a statistically better chance of restarting the heart.

The SP1 is also the very first automated external defibrillator to offer a child/adult switch on the unit itself. Where children require a 50-joule shock, adults need 150 joules. Older AEDs regulated the difference by having the operator switch to child-safe pads, which would absorb 100 outputted joules. The SP1 is instead intelligent enough to regulate this in the box. This is another time (and potentially life) saver, allowing the operator to simply flip a switch depending on the of the patient, rather than needing to change between child and adult paddles – helping to save an already-stressful situation from escalating further.

Additionally, the iPAD SP1 boasts spoken voice prompts enhanced by ambient noise detection. That means it won’t just walk you through how to use the unit if you’re a complete beginner, it will also automatically increase the volume if it finds you’re in an especially loud environment, making sure you don’t miss a single potentially life-saving line of dialogue.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Form Factor” tab_id=”1633616408632-f5b6e009-3f60″][vc_column_text]One of the big criteria for choosing the right defibrillator is storage space, and the SP1 is an intuitively-designed all-in-one unit. you can keep pretty much anywhere. Many AEDs on the market have Active Lid technology that switches the unit on when the lid opens – a design that’s prone to malfunction. (If the lid breaks, the entire unit breaks!). The SP1 has no lid, and comes in a compact and robust form factor that’s as easy to store out of use as it is to handle in an emergency.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Usability” tab_id=”1633616408731-45f897c5-9241″][vc_column_text]The SP1 offers a choice of semi and fully automatic modes, where the shock is either delivered via button press, or automatically after the unit’s checks. The SP1’ also comes with CPR detection, and will play a metronome to allow the person giving treatment to conduct CPR at the correct pace and rhythm, both before a shock and after one. This is especially crucial in strengthening the chain of survival.

The unit’s display is incredibly easy to follow, with user-friendly illuminated illustrations walking the user through every step. Additionally, the SP1 boasts internal storage capacity for up to five events or three hours of use, which can be transferred easily to a PC via SD card or the infrared IrDA port.

The SP1 also includes an intuitive battery indicator which accurately displays the degree of power remaining – now improved by a recent firmware update.

Finally, the SP1 comes with a carry case, two additional electrodes and an AED starter kit containing a number of helpful items including wipes, scissors, a prep razor and face shield – to help aid your lifesaving efforts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”30px”][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/creatinglifesavers/ipad-sp1-aed-overview”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row style=”light” margin_top=”30px” padding_top=”30px” padding_bottom=”30px” padding_left=”30px” padding_right=”30px” bg_type=”bg_color” bg_override=”1″ bg_color_value=”#e42313″][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In a nutshell

The SP1 is our recommended life-saving shock defibrillator for the vast majority of organisations, offering a great mid point between features, form factor and affordability. That’s why it’s the recognised unit of the NHS Ambulance service, and also a nominated device of the British Heart Foundation.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner gap=”5″][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_btn title=”Buy Semi-Automatic iPAD SP1″ style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”white” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fshop.welmedical.com%2Fproduct%2Fipad-sp1-semi-automatic-defibrillator||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_btn title=”Buy Fully Automatic iPAD SP1″ style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”black” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fshop.welmedical.com%2Fproduct%2Fipad-sp1-fully-automatic-defibrillator||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1633596964291{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”25″][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The Budget-Conscious Option: The iPAD SAVER NF1200

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”30″][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Est. cost: Around £250-£350 less than the SP1

Battery life: Up to five years and 200 shocks

If your budget then this might be the perfect answer to the question of which defibrillator should you choose. Previously our flagship product, the SAVER NF1200 is a robust and reliable option suited to any business, service or club that needs the reassurance of portable life-saving technology, without stretching to the higher price points of the SP1 and SP2.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2458″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_tabs shape=”square” color=”black” spacing=”5″ active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Unique Features” tab_id=”1633597937153-777134fa-9fad”][vc_column_text]The most unique thing about the SAVER NF1200 really is the price. Costing an average of £300 less than the SP1, the SAVER is not only our most affordable option, it’s also easily one of the most cost-effective automated external defibrillators on the market – especially for its size!

If you’re considering the SAVER, you’ll most likely be weighing it up against the SP1. With that in mind, there are some similarities, and some notable differences you’ll want to be aware of.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”30px”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The Professional Selection: The iPAD SP2

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”30″][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Cost: Around £600-£700 more than the SP1

Battery life: Up to five years and 200 shocks

When it comes to choosing the right defibrillator, professionals only want the best. Enter the iPAD SP2.

A new class of highly-portable automated external defibrillators, the iPAD SP2 is designed for use by trained medical professionals – in a frame the fraction of the size of other fully-featured defibrillators.

Because of this, it can do almost everything the SP1 can, but boasts a series of additional features designed to aid lifesavers in their duties.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2473″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”30px”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Similarities to the SP1

Because the SP2 is designed for expert lifesavers, the unit offers full flexibility in when and how you can shock. Unlike the SAVER and SP1, the unit by design has no fully automatic mode, and instead will allow the user to shock at any time – whether the patient passes the unit’s health checks or not.

Full digital screen and ECG

The screen on the front of the SP2 gives a full ECG readout, which is ideal for when patients regain consciousness and a rescuer needs to monitor their health. To make the most of this, the unit offers both II lead ECG functionality and remote Bluetooth III lead ECG monitoring, allowing trained lifesavers to get an initial snapshot of the patient’s health in order to inform treatment decisions from anywhere in range of the .[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Synchronised Cardioversion

This unique feature allows the unit to compensate for erratic or abnormal heart rhythms and deliver pointed shocks to correct them.

Bluetooth printer

Another handy feature for medical professionals, the Bluetooth printer allows trained lifesavers to get and share potentially crucial medical data quickly, directly from the unit.

Small form factor

Despite being more feature-rich than the SP1, the SP2 is a similar size – making it incredibly portable for such a fully feature-rich defibrillator.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row style=”light” padding_top=”30px” padding_bottom=”30px” padding_left=”30px” padding_right=”30px” bg_type=”bg_color” bg_override=”1″ bg_color_value=”#e42313″][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In a nutshell

More than an AED, but also more compact and far more affordable than most large-size, fully-featured defibrillation units (which often cost thousands of pounds more), the SP2 is currently unique in the marketplace and ideal for professional medical services on the move.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner gap=”5″][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_btn title=”Buy iPAD SP2″ style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”white” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fshop.welmedical.com%2Fproduct%2Fipad-sp2-defibrillator-with-monitor||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1633596964291{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
